ABOUT POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
The department is among the pioneer academic programs in the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences of the University established by the Federal Government in 2013. Academic activities in the department began during the 2014/2015 Academic Session. At the moment, the department has successfully admitted eight sets of students of which the first four sets have graduated. The department is staffed with highly resourceful academics that are both on tenure and visiting appointments. As a new department, there are three Professors, Six Senior Lecturers and a number of other junior academics and supporting staff. The Department is housed in the Faculty Building of Arts, Social and Management Sciences at the Permanent Site of the University. The staff are decently accommodated in befitting offices and the students have access to high quality academic facilities such as the University Library, Lecture Theatres, Classes etc. The philosophy of political science Program is to produce graduates with critical minds, requisite ability and skills to analyze, comprehend, predict, shape and mold power relationships in a dynamic socio-political environment in a globalized world.
