ABOUT BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

The Department was opened in 2014 as Department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. The first set of students was admitted in 2014/2015 academic session at 100 Level which commenced at the take-off site donated by the Kebbi State Government. There were Forty (40) students then. As at 2016/ 2017 academic session, the total number of student enrolment increased to one hundred and twenty (120). The Department started with Three (3) academic staff (i.e. Reader, and 2 Assistant Lecturers) and one (1) Administrative Officer during 2014/2015 academic session. Currently, the Department has Four (4) Non-Academic and Eight (8) academic staff comprising of one Professor and two Senior Lecturers. The first set of students graduated in 2017/2018 session. The Department also facilitates entrepreneurship courses of Sister Units and Departments. To date, the Department is among the Departments that enjoy the highest patronage in the University. The B.Sc. Business Administration Programme is based on the idea of a broad based education so as to expose students to the field of management and administration. This is to be achieved by equipping students through theoretical and practical knowledge through the process of comprehensive and rigorous classroom teaching. This approach aims to broaden the intellectual exposure of the students in the discipline to prepare them to acquire originality, total being, and creativity leading to cultivating of entrepreneurial spirit in young men and women who can exploit the available resources and opportunities in the society.
