The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), Prof Muhammad Zaiyan Umar, has reaffirmed the commitment of the University Management to addressing staff entitlements and promoting the welfare of members of the University community.
Prof. MZ Umar made the commitment when he received separate delegations of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) at his office recently.
The Vice Chancellor emphasised that staff welfare remained a priority of his administration, noting that a motivated workforce was essential to the effective functioning and sustainable development of the University.
He assured the delegation that Management would continue to engage relevant stakeholders and explore appropriate avenues for addressing outstanding staff entitlements, within available resources and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Prof. MZ Umar also commended the spirit of camaraderie demonstrated by the various staff unions, particularly the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), SSANU, NASU and NAAT, for their continued contribution to industrial harmony and their shared commitment to the progress and development of the University.
He stressed the importance of mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation between Management and the unions, noting that constructive engagement remained vital to sustaining industrial harmony and advancing the goals of the University.
The VC appreciated the unions for their continued support and constructive engagement with Management, and called for sustained cooperation in promoting the interests of the University.
In their response, the unions' leaderships appreciated the VC for his commitment to staff welfare and for maintaining an open channel of communication with staff representatives.
They expressed optimism that issues concerning staff entitlements would continue to receive the attention of FUBK Management.
FUBK Bulletin reports that the meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the University Management and the staff unions to promoting staff welfare, sustaining industrial harmony and advancing the continued growth and development of the institution.
