NYSC sensitises FUBK final-year students, prospective Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kebbi State, has sensitised final-year students and prospective Corps Members of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) on the mobilisation process and requirements for successful participation in the National Service Scheme.

The sensitisation programme, held on Thursday, 17 September 2026, was conducted by the Assistant Director, Development and Relocation, NYSC Kebbi State, Mr. Herman Livingstone.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Zaiyan Umar, the Head of Department of Physics, Dr. Isah Garba, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the NYSC officials and prospective Corps Members to the programme.

He described the exercise as timely and important in equipping graduating students with essential information ahead of their transition to national service, noting that the NYSC scheme promotes national integration, unity and mutual understanding among Nigerian youths.

Dr. Garba, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, commended the NYSC for organising the sensitisation programme and urged the students to pay close attention to the information provided, particularly on mobilisation, registration, documentation, deployment and other requirements associated with the service year.

He further encouraged the prospective Corps Members to approach the NYSC programme with discipline, patriotism, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility, assuring them that the University would continue to support initiatives aimed at preparing its students for life after graduation.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Livingstone sensitised the students on various aspects of the NYSC mobilisation process and the responsibilities expected of prospective Corps Members.

He provided useful information on the procedures and requirements for mobilisation, registration, documentation and deployment, while also responding to questions from the students and clarifying issues relating to their participation in the service year.

The programme provided the prospective Corps Members with an opportunity to obtain first-hand information on the NYSC scheme and gain a better understanding of the requirements and procedures associated with their transition from university to national service.

The sensitisation exercise was attended by final-year students, prospective Corps Members and relevant staff of the University.

FUBK Bulletin reports that the programme concluded with a call on the students to comply with NYSC guidelines and make adequate preparations for their mobilisation and subsequent service to the nation.
