The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Kebbi State Office, on Tuesday, 14th April 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) to discuss registration and compliance with statutory obligations.
The visit, held at VC's office Senate Building, was aimed at strengthening collaboration, particularly in the areas of employee compensation and workplace safety coverage.
The Head of Compliance and leader of the NSITF delegation, Malam Aliyu Muhammad Yelwa, stressed the need for institutions to enroll their workforce in the Fund's scheme.
Yelwa said proper registration would ensure adequate protection of staff against workplace-related injuries, disabilities and other unforeseen incidents.
Also speaking, Mr Abbas Abubakar of the Fund highlighted the benefits of the Employees' Compensation Scheme and urged the university to designate a desk officer to enhance compliance and address pending registration issues.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of FUBK, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan Umar, commended NSITF for the initiative and expressed the university's readiness to comply with all necessary regulations.
Umar assured that the institution would continue to prioritise staff welfare and safety in line with statutory requirements.
Both parties agreed on the need for sustained engagement to ensure seamless implementation of NSITF policies.
