The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olusola Oladoja, has inaugurated the newly elected officials of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS) on Thursday, 31st July, 2025. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the College of Nursing Sciences Birnin Kebbi, drew notable personalities from the student affairs and higher education sectors.
The NANS President oversaw the inauguration of the new NUKESS leadership alongside the Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Comrade Asefor Sunday Dayo, and the Governor's Special Assistant on Student Matters, Comrade Muhammad Muhammad Majo.
In his introductory remarks, Comrade Majo emphasized the significance of youth leadership and the growing responsibility of student bodies in shaping the nation's future. He said student organizations must now transform into centres of innovation, discipline, and purpose, with NUKESS setting the pace, and appreciated the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for his support.
Underscoring the government's dedication to education, the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, representing the Executive Governor, reaffirmed Governor Idris's commitment to student welfare, educational reforms, and youth empowerment statewide.
FUBK Bulletin reports that the newly elected executives include Ahijo Saidu Bakwai as President from Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK); Bilkisu Malami Isah, Vice President 1; Musa Muhammad Musa, Vice President 2; Muhammad Abdullahi Kwazo, Secretary General; and Fauziya Musa Koko of FUBK as Director of Women's Affairs, among others.
The new President, Comrade Ahijo Saidu Bakwai, a 400-level student of Federal University Birnin Kebbi, delivered an acceptance address on behalf of his team, promising to serve with assiduity, integrity, and a deep sense of duty. The new leadership pledged to foster unity among Kebbi students and broaden welfare programmes.
