FUBK students shine at USLF Essay Competition

Five FUBK students earn spots among the top 15 winners of the 2025 Umaru Shinkafi Legacy Foundation Essay Competition, taking home a combined ₦2.05 million in cash prizes.

Students of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) have demonstrated strong brilliance and shined at the 2025 USLF Essay Competition, organized by the Umaru Shinkafi Legacy Foundation as part of the Shinkafi Intelligence & Security Summit (SISS).

FUBK recorded an impressive showing, with five students earning spots among the top 15 winners. Their outstanding essays on the topic "Socio-Economic Implications of Kidnapping and Banditry in Nigeria" earned them a combined total of ₦2,050,000 in cash prizes.

FUBK Bulletin reports that Abdulbasit Ismail, a 22-year-old MBBS student, clinched the 5th position and received ₦700,000. Gabriel Samuel Adada, studying Nursing, came 7th and won ₦500,000. Usamah T. Mashiinkafa, a Nursing Science student, placed 9th and earned ₦400,000.

Hassana Abubakar Gulma, an 18-year-old Accounting student, came 10th and received ₦350,000, while Alamin Muhammad Aliyu, a 25-year-old MBBS student, secured the 15th position with a ₦100,000 prize.

The performance of these FUBK students reflects the university's commitment to academic excellence and national discourse. The success story is a testament to their critical thinking and writing skills on one of the country's most pressing issues.
