Barr. Abdulkadir Abubakar takes over as 3rd substantive Registrar

Barrister Abdulkadir Abubakar assumes duty as the 3rd substantive Registrar of FUBK, taking over from Ag. Registrar Sani Umar Yeldu in the first such tenure appointment from within the University.

Barr. Abdulkadir Abubakar takes over as 3rd substantive Registrar

The newly appointed Registrar of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Barrister Abdulkadir Abubakar, has officially assumed duty on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Barr. Abdulkadir, who is the 3rd substantive Registrar of the University, took over from the Ag. Registrar, Sani Umar Yeldu, at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room.

The new Registrar, a legal luminary, brings to bear about two decades of administrative experience in the University system. He joined the services of Federal University Birnin Kebbi as Senior Assistant Registrar in 2015 and rose to become a Deputy Registrar in 2022.

He previously served as Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Legal Studies, College of Basic and Advanced Studies, Yelwa-Yauri (2005-2007), as well as Administrative Officer at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (2007-2015).

Until his appointment as the new Registrar, Abdulkadir was a Deputy Registrar and the Head of Legal Unit in the University. He served as TETFund Desk Officer (Staff Training and Development) and Assistant Secretary to the Council. He also served as Secretary and Assistant Secretary of over 30 Committees in the institution. He was born on August 13, 1973, and is married with children.

FUBK Bulletin had earlier reported that staff wallowed in the euphoria over the appointment of a tenure staff, Barr. Abubakar, as the new Registrar of the institution. This development marks a historic milestone for the university, being the first appointment of its kind since its establishment.

Many pundits from far and near have commended the Governing Council and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. MZ Umar, for his visionary leadership and commitment to nurturing internal human resources. This appointment exemplifies good governance, inclusivity, and strategic development of human capital.
