The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) Branch, has screened over 500 applicants for its Annual Indigent Students' Scholarship Scheme.

The screening exercise was held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the ASUU Secretariat, University's Take-Off Site.

Speaking to FUBK Bulletin shortly after the commencement of the exercise, the ASUU-FUBK Branch Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Abdulrahman Bashir, said over 500 candidates who applied for the scholarship were screened.

He explained that the scholarship scheme was designed to provide financial support to indigent students experiencing serious financial difficulties in pursuing their university education.

According to him, the screening was conducted to assess the applicants and identify eligible students who meet the requirements for the annual scholarship award.

Dr. Bashir noted that the initiative was part of ASUU-FUBK Branch's efforts to support students facing financial challenges and contribute to their continued academic pursuit.

The scholarship scheme requires applicants to be bona fide students of FUBK with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00, alongside relevant supporting documents for verification.

The screening followed the Branch's earlier call for applications, which also provided an opportunity for interested students who had not initially submitted their applications to attend with their completed applications and supporting documents for screening and verification.
