FUBK hosts capacity-building workshop on NVivo software

In a bid to enhance research capacity among its academic community, the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) successfully hosted a one-day workshop on NVivo software, a leading qualitative data analysis tool. The event took place on Wednesday, 19th June 2025, at the Bioscience Research Institute, Main Campus.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Danjumma Abdullahi, a seasoned researcher from the Department of Local Government and Development Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Dr. Abdullahi delivered an intensive and interactive training session to 70 staff members drawn from various faculties and departments across the University. The workshop was delivered at no cost to the University, underscoring his strong commitment to academic collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUBK, Prof. MZ Umar, was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Abdullahi Turaki, who delivered a warm welcome address. He commended the initiative as timely and critical to strengthening qualitative research output at the institution.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Kasimu Shehu, Director of Research, Innovation and Development, and Chairman of the Occasion, emphasized the importance of adopting modern research tools like NVivo to meet global standards in academic research. He urged participants to fully engage with the training and apply the knowledge gained to their ongoing and future research endeavours.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity and noted the relevance of the training to their academic work. The workshop ended with a call for more capacity-building initiatives of this nature to further position FUBK as a hub for impactful research and innovation.
