Welcome to the Department of Political Science- FUBK You are welcome to the Department of Political Science, Federal University Birnin Kebbi. At the Department, we provide an ideal setting for students and learners at all levels to engage with novel ideas, thorough scholarship and creative research in the discipline of political science as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary research across disciplines in Humanities. As a community of emerging scholars, lecturers and students are provided with the most congenial atmosphere for teaching, learning, and research and community service. At present, the department offer BSc Political Science Program. The content of the program is substantially drawn but not limited to the National Universities� Commission (NUC) Basic Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS). The Academic Program seeks to train students in politics generally and particularly in the areas of governance, administration and diplomacy. On behalf of the Department, I congratulate the fresh students for their successful admission into the University and particularly to the department of Political Science. I also implore you to be hardworking, diligent, disciplined, upright and obedient to the rules and regulations of the University. At the point of registration students will be given departmental handbook, which serves as guide for their conduct generally in the department. History of the Department The department is among the pioneer academic programs in the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences of the University established by the Federal Government in 2013. Academic activities in the department began during the 2014/2015 Academic Session. At the moment, the department has successfully admitted eight sets of students of which the first four sets have graduated. The department is staffed with highly resourceful academics that are both on tenure and visiting appointments. As a new department, there are three Professors, Six Senior Lecturers and a number of other junior academics and supporting staff. The Department is housed in the Faculty Building of Arts, Social and Management Sciences at the Permanent Site of the University. The staff are decently accommodated in befitting offices and the students have access to high quality academic facilities such as the University Library, Lecture Theatres, Classes etc. Philosophy The philosophy of political science Program is to produce graduates with critical minds, requisite ability and skills
