The Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the College of Health Sciences, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, is dedicated to providing top-tier education and research in both clinical and experimental pharmacology. We are committed to equipping students from various health sciences disciplines, including medicine, nursing, anatomy, and physiology, with a deep understanding of pharmacology’s fundamental concepts and their practical applications. Our curriculum offers a balanced approach, combining foundational theory with hands-on practical skills. Students are taught core areas such as drug action mechanisms, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and toxicology, alongside laboratory sessions that enhance their practical knowledge. Through a combination of lectures, small group sessions, and lab-based learning, students gain an in-depth understanding of how pharmacological principles apply to health and disease management.
Facilities and Resources
The department boasts well-equipped teaching laboratories that provide students with the tools to conduct practical experiments, allowing them to explore the effects of drugs on biological systems. Additionally, our research facilities support advanced investigations in both clinical and experimental pharmacology. These resources ensure that students and faculty can engage in cutting-edge research projects that address real-world health challenges.
Our Staff
Our department is home to a team of experienced and dedicated academic staff who bring a wealth of knowledge from various subfields of pharmacology. They are actively involved in both teaching and research, ensuring that students receive comprehensive education and guidance in their academic journey. Our staff members are also involved in collaborative research with other departments and external institutions, contributing to the advancement of pharmacological sciences.
