About Us

Our History

The Federal University Birnin-Kebbi (FUBK) was established on 18th February, 2013 alongside those of Gusau and Gashua by the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, in line with policy of the Government for establishing a Federal University in states that did not have one across the federation.

Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, FNSMB, a Professor of Biochemistry and former Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto was appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University while Ibrahim Abubakar Mungadi, FCAI, was appointed as the Registrar.

It gives me pleasure to welcome you to this great citadel of learning, the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, of which you are now a member. I would like to congratulate you on your choice and for the trust you have placed in the University and its community for your professional education and personal growth. As part of your everyday life you will have access to IT facilities, sport facilities, Libraries, programmes, services and a wide range of academic courses. In pursuance of the vision and mission of the University, you are expected to be technologically acquainted with new innovations that facilitate learning. This will ensure actualizing your dreams just like your counterparts around the globe. Our Directorate of Research and Innovations is always available to be the torchlight that will guide your ways and sight in this journey.

My dear current and prospective students, I strongly encourage you to take an active role in your education, obey the rules and regulations of the University, be law abiding, shun examination misconducts, dress decently, keep away from drugs and be tolerant to other people’s culture and tradition. You must also uphold the tradition of keeping our University cult-free. I hope this handbook will help you discover the range of possibilities and activities that have been programmed beginning from this academic year.
