The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin-Kebbi (FUBK) has, at its 14th meeting, held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 considered the recommendation from the Joint Senate and Council Selection Board and approved the appointment of Mal. Abubakar Aliyu, as the new Registrar of the University.
The appointment which is for a single and non-renewable term of five (5) years, takes effect from the date he assume duties with the University.
Mal. Abubakar Aliyu has over three (3) decades of professional experience. He started his working career with the Nigeria Immigration Service in 1988 as Assistant Superintendent and left as the Chief Superintendent of Immigration in 2005. He joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2006 as Assistant Registrar, where he rose through ranks to become the Deputy Registrar in 2016.
The new Registrar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in (English/Hausa) from Bayero University, Kano in 1986. He attended the Government Day Secondary School, Zaria from 1977 to 1982 and Local Education Authority Primary School Pada, Zaria from 1971 to 1977.
The Registrar is the Head of the Registry Department as well the Chief Administrative Officer of the University. He is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the Institution.
A member of the Association Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Mal. Aliyu was born on January 17, 1965 in Zaria Local Government of Kaduna State. He is married with children.
