Entrepreneurship education is aimed at empowering students in the Universities, Polytechnics and other Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria to acquire different skills in order to establish their own business and create job after graduation. The entrepreneurship education is targeted to all students irrespective of their field of specialization. The Federal Government directed that all Tertiary Institutions in the country should undertake the teaching of Entrepreneurship Education respectively consequently, where the Federal University Birnin Kebbi was established in the year 2013, the management of the university under the leadership of a visionary icon and erudite scholar in the person of Prof. Lawal S. Bilbis saw the need to start the programme at the take-off stage, thus, in 2014 the entrepreneurship centre Federal University Birnin Kebbi was established. No doubt, entrepreneurship education can provide an enabling environment for job creation and self-reliance, encouraging productive economic activities among the youth to acquire capability to become innovating and also help them to look out for investment opportunities. Indeed, the purpose of entrepreneurship education is to enhance an effective capacity building strategies for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises that are catalyst to the industrial and economic growth of any nation. In the past, entrepreneurship course was offered with focused mostly on theoretical aspect but in the case of Federal University Birnin Kebbi the course will be offered in both theory and practical. Students are allowed to choose skills of their interest while materials, tools as well as facilitators and instructors will be made available to guide the students. For now, the entrepreneurship training curriculum is designed to give trainees good orientation to enable them learn different meaningful skills and innovations. The Federal University Birnin Kebbi Entrepreneurship Centre is prepared for the practical and theoretical teaching of ceramics, fishery and poultry as well as moringa plantation.
